Introduction
The Assault Rifle or LMG is the Default primary weapon for all Marines. It holds 50 rounds in each magazine and a Marine can carry a maximum of 4 extra magazines, making for a total ammo pool of 250 rounds. The Assault Rifle has a weight of 0.13, which is the smallest (other than 0.0 of Switch-Axe/Welder, Pistol, Mines, and Grenades) and therefore the Assault Rifle slows down movement speed for Marines the least.
This weapon excels at medium to long range combat and Marines should try to maintain distance between them and any Aliens to take advantage of this.
Damage Type
Main Article: Damage Types
The Assault Rifle deals Normal damage meaning that Alien armour will absorb 2 damage for every 1 point of armour.
Example
A basic Skulk spawns with 75 health and 10 armour. Using the formula below, you can calculate the effective health given by health and armour combined and therefore the exact amount of damage needed to kill a Skulk.
Health |
Health |
Negated |
Armor |
Therefore in the example above, it takes 10 rifle shots to kill a Base Skulk, with no Weapon Upgrades.
Rifle Bash
|
The alternate fire of the Assault Rifle is a melee strike with the butt of the weapon. Marines should only use this attack when they are certain it will kill an enemy, as doing so will interrupt a reload cycle, leaving the Marine vulnerable.
If timed correctly during the reload (at ~50%), it speeds up the reload process by about 12% (or ~0.27 seconds) and also allows for some free damage if the Bash hits a target.
Variants
There are currently 9 variations of the rifle skin available for use by TSF Marines.
Info: • Not all variants are available for purchase.
• Skins are purely cosmetic and offer no augmented or additional stats in-game. |
