Introduction

The Drifter is an alien lifeform that the Alien Commander directly control. Apart from the ability to speed up the growing of Alien Structures, it has several active and passive abilities tied to what type of Hive the aliens have.

These abilities can be used to assist the aliens in battles and in expanding fast.

Unlike the ARC and MAC the drifter does provide vision for the Commander, which makes patrolling Drifters a useful defensive tool to spot Phase Gates or Marine pushes early enough to form an effective response.

Passive Abilities

  • Shift Hive
Celerity: Drifters move 18% faster
  • Crag Hive
Regeneration: Drifters regenerate 3% max hp/sec
  • Shade Hive
Camouflage: Drifters gain Camouflage when they are idle

Tactical Summary - Spotting Hallucinations

  • Hallucinations die in a dark cloud instead of a disintegrating ragdoll.
  • Killing Hallucinations does not yield points.
  • Hallucinated structures will appear built on the Minimap (not grayed out) but have the unbuilt model.
  • The Switch-Axe will only deal half damage to a hallucinated structure, since it is not treated as a structure.
